One purpose of a biography is to offer qualifications of the author to the reader. This leaves me in a bit of a conundrum. As I look around my chaotic life this Monday morning trying to find things that give me stature, I find only circumstances that would leave me reeling in embarrassment if you were to physically walk through my door. The baby is fussing. Dirty laundry is piled up and clean laundry is drying on a rack in
my living room. The TV is sitting on the floor because it doesn't fit into the entertainment center. My sofa and chairs are littered with my children’s belongings. Junk mail and dirty dishes cover almost every available countertop in the kitchen. My studio work for clients is backed up. Six months post delivery, I still have a baby bump with little time or desire to exercise it away and my hair desperately needs to be colored. I could go on and on with the list of things that currently leave me "unqualified" to inspire other women, but instead let’s flip through the archives of my life in search of qualifications. I was married at 19 and months later we had our first son. Twenty-three months later we had our second son. Many years passed and although life still threw us twists and turns, we learned to enjoy the ride. When our boys were 10 and 8 years old, we decided we wanted to add another child to our family. Two years passed and nothing happened. My heart longed for the child that had grown in my heart but had yet to be conceived. Not only was my womanhood challenged with each month's negative pregnancy test, my faith was challenged as well. Long story short, God is faithful and we now have a beautiful baby girl who has captured the hearts of her parents and her brothers. (amended-And now two years later we are adding our second baby girl to the family.)

So where does all this information leave us? The obvious. No one, and I mean no one, has lived a life filled with only rainbows and gumdrops. I, like other women, have a life full of ups, downs, failures, accomplishments and successes. For me, that is what this blog is about—trying to walk openly through the struggles that all women face and sharing fun tidbits and tips along the way. Life is a journey of discovering and focusing on who we are in Christ rather than letting past and current circumstances continually remind us of who we aren't.So to answer the question who am I? Because God says He is faithful to complete the work He has begun, I am obviously a work in progress. Although it may include misspelled words and lots of improper grammar, I AM willing to author my everyday life experiences in hopes of connecting with even just one woman so she can be encouraged to look beyond her shortcomings and see the jewels that lie within every yielded heart. I am who I am.
